The first time I met this family was just after their little girl turned 1 – we met downtown for a family shoot that showcased some Virginia character during their short but sweet time here while in medical school at UVA.
When Alex reached out again last month, I was thrilled to work with them again in a new capacity. While our first session was lifestyle portraits, this time, we went full documentary.
In the midst of graduating med school, expecting their second child, and moving across the country, they wanted to capture the joy in all that chaos. Both sets of parents, siblings, and friends, were in town for graduation weekend and they’d be moving the following week to their official jobs in the mid-west.
Family doesn’t care if you have boxes piled around, if half your cooking utensils are already packed, if you bust out the paper plates, if your 2 year old wants to serve you “clown coffee” while you chop scallions – simply being together is true joy worth capturing.
Of course, I did ALSO love that in their sweet generosity, these kind folks wouldn’t send me off without a glass of wine and literally THE MOST delicious pasta carbonara — I won’t complain.
Check out a few of the highlights from this raw and wonderful story below and leave them some love for their next adventures!
