Adding Activity to your Outdoor Session

We believe that we can celebrate people and capture joy at any time and any location.

Don’t get me wrong, we love in-home sessions. I mean…the fun of a pancake morning followed by a walk around the neighborhood? So sweet.

But we get it—in-home sessions aren’t always possible or might not even be your cup of tea.

In theory, capturing beauty in the mundane sounds great but the type A in you knows you’ll be spending the entire week cleaning if you decide to let a photographer into your home. You say to yourself “it doesn’t have to be perfect” but then you find yourself straightening the books on the bookshelf and tempted to set the table rather than use the paper plates you always do.

Remember, our goal is to reduce the stress around family photos and always have fun.

So, why not just pack up a picnic and head to one of the beautiful outdoor locations Charlottesville has to offer?!

We have found that adding an activity or two to your session can help everyone relax and engage so much more naturally together…even if the location is not at home.

This featured family session at Boars Head was the perfect example. They decided to make it a family evening out, complete with a picnic, tossing the baseball, rolling down hills, and playing in the leaves.

Now if that doesn’t sound fun, I don’t know what does.

At-home sessions might not be for you right now, and that’s okay. We have compiled a list of beautiful locations where there is plenty of space and opportunity to make it a fun family day out!
